Hair toppers: the complete guide

Everything to know before your first hair topper — what it is, who it suits, how it compares to a wig, and how a custom topper is made and fitted at HEADS in Makati.

What is a hair topper?

A hair topper is a partial hairpiece of real human hair on a fine, breathable base that covers thinning at the crown, parting or front — clipping securely into your own hair. Unlike a wig, it does not cover the whole head: your own hair frames your face and blends over the topper, which is why a well-matched topper looks so convincingly like your own hair, only fuller.

At HEADS, every topper comes from our own ateliers — a craft the company behind HEADS has practised since 1873 — and is colour-matched, fitted and cut in at our Greenbelt studio.

Who is a topper for?

Topper vs wig, in one paragraph

If most of your hair is still there and the issue is thinning on top, a topper wins: lighter, cooler, faster to put on, and your own hairline stays yours. If loss is extensive or total, a wig gives full coverage. The honest comparison — with all the deciding factors — is in our topper vs wig guide.

What makes a HEADS topper different

What does a topper cost?

Every HEADS topper is custom-made — base size, construction, hair length, colour work and density all differ from client to client, so a flat price list would mislead more than it helps. At your free consultation you receive a clear, personal quotation with no obligation.

The easiest way to know what suits you: a free colour-match consultation at our Greenbelt studio in Makati — try toppers on, see yourself in daylight, no obligation.
